Lips Demo's

Postby forpetessake on Wed Sep 26, 2007 1:39 pm

..."The band that would evolve out of the ashes of Chelsea would be named LIPS, and while they would still do covers, the artists they covered at least included Cream and Jimi Hendrix and more of the then current rock scene... Peter was rockin' now!"

While making the rounds gigging the band found the time to record some demos at RCA Studios in the early 1972 with additional rhythm guitarist John Amato. According to Stan, "the session date was 2/22/72. The 5 songs on the demo - in order are: 1) Baby Driver 2) Dirty Living 3) Baby, Don't You Let Me Down 4) You're My Woman 5) Baby, Don't You Let Me Down " (SP-82KJCG).

Well Lips are absolutely cool!

I have the demos which are the REALLY original versions of the Peter Criss Solotracks from 1978:

I'm gonna love you,
Don't you let me down,
That's the kind of sugar papa likes,
Hooked on rock'n roll

plus : Love, Love, Love

They were all sang by the great Stanley Penridge ( great voice and singing too, different than Peter, much softer, more folky-bluesy)
and the story goes that Peter bought the songs of him 6 years later,
and sang them all on his debut solo album.
Off course Stan Penridge played guitar on every track.

Lips were really, really cool and Kama Sutra Records paid for the demos.

Cool stuff, even George "only" play the drums here, but 4 of this songs ends six years later on..... :pc2

Yes!
